Celebrating Greece Holidays
Greece is located in the Mediterranean Sea. The country itself is relatively small but the tourism market present there is huge. The great thing about Greece is that people can have a fun vacation their year round. During the summer months they can pass the time on the beaches and during the winter months they can take advantage of some of the great winter resort lands. For those who want an in depth history lessons there are museums and archaeological sites throughout the country. Many people have heard about the ancient civilizations that helped to shape Greece but most people do not know that the country has a lot more to offer. No one can deny that the history and artifacts that still exist cannot be replaced but this blossoming country has lots of other things to offer guests.
As mentioned before many people enjoy taking advantage of the beaches. There are lots of water sports to enjoy such as diving, sailing, kite surfing and wind surfing. Many people come simply to take advantage of the great weather and beautiful blue crystal clear waters. For those who enjoy outdoor activities there are several walking trails and mountains that people love to hike and climb. Guided tours are available in some areas. During the winter months skiing is a big pastime for many tourists. They have beautiful snowcapped mountains for tourists to utilize. There are also several popular ski resorts for tourists to enjoy.
Though Greek has visitors year round many people come during the holiday season to enjoy the activities and to see the live culture up close and personal. March 25th is the day that they celebrate their Independence Day. There are processionals and other celebrations throughout Greece. Many tourists love to come to the country and take part in the celebration of heritage. Generally tourists who plan to attend make their plans way in advance to make sure that they have a place to stay. One of the biggest holidays tends to be Easter and Good Friday. This religious celebration is very important in the Greek culture. There are church ceremonies, processionals and even fireworks to mark the occasion.
Carnival season is another busy tourism season. It is not an actual holiday but there are several big celebrations throughout the country as people have fun. Parades, costumes and other traditions are just a few things tourist can look forward to.
